I love this conversation and reflection on tattoos and the eternal you. I have a few tattoos. One I could explain in words what it means to me. The others are a total vibe! They represent an essence that can’t be summed up in words. I’m enjoying your tattoo series… and wonder if you’ll write more about ‘if my tattoos could speak…’?! (Random late night musing!)

Yes, a total vibe! I love this perfect sum up.

I hadn’t been pulled into the idea of a 4th chronicle but my gosh your idea of ‘if my tattoos could speak’ is inspiring! 🤩 watch this space! Thank you ☺️

Thanks Beth. It’s is a complex thought process and hard to capture in an article or two. I hope all goes well for your journey with it. x

So aptly timed, as I realized recently it’s time for my first tattoo! I’ve been thinking on placement and size and the full design. Thank you for the insights. 💛

Oh I love this! None of my tattoos have much meaning behind the design, just within the experience. My first was done with a bamboo needle in Thailand after a motorbike crash - it means more to me now than it did then, but I always forget I have it. Then my friend got a tattoo machine so I let her put dots on my feet and she did hers too, so we match. And then we did three dots in my fingers which remind me of my favourite star constellation.

My friend is a super talented tattoo artist in Brisbane and sometimes I think he has the most fascinating job in the world. He gets booked up very quickly with people coming to him for his specific style and they often let him decide how what to draw which I think is super cool, too. I really love his behind-the-scenes posts.

Looking forward to part 2!!

Thanks Cassie, I loved reading about yours too. Gosh tattoos have interesting stories. It would be dangerous for me to have a friend good with a tattoo gun 😆

Hahaha I wouldn't say good, she just got one for fun and we were playing around with it, hence the dots 😂😂😂

Beautifully written, thank you!

I never ask, always wonder what a tattoo means to a person, what made them take the leap. Being a tattoo artist must be like being a hair dresser – getting a glimpse of people's lives. I have an oak on my hip.

Thanks Josefin. I really like the idea of the oak; ageless and wise.
